The Second Time Around – An Author’s Thoughts before Launch Day

And here we go again… Just days before the release of my second novel “Where Sleeping Lies Lie” I find myself in a sudden panic. After all the revisions, edits, beta readers and countless re-formatting, what if it’s just not ready yet? Will it ever be?

Take chronic perfectionism with a touch of OCD, add a generous helping of self-doubt, and what you’ll get is a rabbit hole that can easily swallow even the biggest of aspirations, plans, and passions.

What I have learned over time is that there comes a point when you have to let go and trust that what you are releasing into the world is the best it can be… at that moment in time (otherwise, it’ll forever be a work in progress). It’s the story that you have poured your soul into, characters that you have come to respect and became friends with, that you laughed and cried with and that you will miss as you start thinking about what’s up ahead. It is time to send them off into the world hoping that your readers will enjoy them as much as you have ever since you created them.

So, am I anxious about releasing this book? Am I chewing off my nails and wishing I could pull the plug? Absolutely! But at the same time, I am excited to share the story that has virtually consumed every free minute of my life for over a year.

I can’t wait to hear which parts made you cry or laugh out loud, whether you were taking guesses as to the ‘reasons why’ and how far off you were, how often you wanted to throw something at Peter or if, like Anna, you have ever found yourself walking down memory lane without a clue where you were going. I might be getting carried away here, but seriously, reviews and ratings are greatly encouraged and very much appreciated. They are the most visible way for me to know whether my readers enjoy my novels. After all, your feedback makes it all worth it. The countdown is on… Come March 21st look for “Where Sleeping Lies Lie” on Amazon, Barnes&Noble, Kobo, Apple, and most other online eBook retailers.
Happy reading!
